 The Day of Pentecost

We are nearing the end of the fifty days of Easter.  This Sunday, is Pentecost Sunday, the day on which Christ's promise to send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, is fulfilled in Jerusalem.  The readings for this Sunday include Genesis 11 where humanity arrogantly reaches up toward God through the building of a tower.  God scatters these proud ones in the imagination of their hearts through confusing their language and destroying the tower of Babel.  But His purpose in this is only revealed thousands of years later when He sends His own Son to be with us in the flesh, and then when He sends His Spirit on the Day of Pentecost.  In this, God reveals that we do not need to build a tower to be with Him in the heavens, we do not even need to lift our souls up to dwell with Him.  Instead, He comes down to be with us, to deliver us, and finally to lift us up to be with Him.  God's blessings as you rejoice in His gifts!

God is Here!

The Good Shepherd is here amidst His people. He comes to us through simple means beause He desires to commune with us and give us His good gifts. He speaks to us through His Word. He caresses us with the soft waters of Baptism. He comes into our presence through the Lord's Supper to give forgiveness.

Come to Grace Lutheran Church each Sunday at 9:30 AM and rest in the forgiving presence of our God. We especially rejoice in receiving Christ's body and blood under bread and wine when we celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first and third Sundays of the month.

We look forward to seeing you here.

In Christ,

Pastor Swem

Who is Lutheran Church–Canada?
Lutheran Church–Canada is comprised of congregations, pastors, and deacons committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our confessions and practises are based on the foundation of God's Word and the belief that God's gift of salvation is found only through faith in Jesus Christ, God's only Son. In more than 325 congregations, from British Columbia to New Brunswick, this message is proclaimed in word and deed.

History
The Lutheran church is a direct result of the Protestant Reformation begun in 1517 by Martin Luther in Wittenberg, Germany. Lutheran Church–Canada was founded in 1988 when the Canadian congregations of St. Louis-based The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod formed an autonomous Canadian church with three districts. The Alberta-British Columbia District offices are in Edmonton, Alberta, the Central District in Winnipeg, Manitoba and the East District in Kitchener, Ontario. The denomination retains close ties with the LCMS and other Lutheran church bodies around the world which follow the Biblically-based Lutheran Confessions.
