*Ascension Service 7:30 pm
Thursday May 17th*
Your Search for God is Over!
The Good Shepherd is here amidst His people. He comes to us through simple means beause He desires to commune with us and give us His good gifts. He speaks to us through His Word. He caresses us with the soft waters of Baptism. He comes into our presence through the Lord's Supper to give forgiveness.
Come to Grace Lutheran Church each Sunday at 9:30 AM and rest in the forgiving presence of our God. We especially rejoice in receiving Christ's body and blood under bread and wine when we celebrate the Lord's Supper on the first and third Sundays of the month.
We look forward to seeing you here.
In Christ,
Pastor Swem

Sunday School May 20th:
This ThistOn EasThis morning at Sunday School we'll hear about Jesus' ascension into heaven where He sits at the right hand of His Father. We begin in the sanctuary with a short devotion at 8:00 am, followed by a review of Martin Luther's Small Catechism, and preparation for the children's choir to sing during the coming months. An adult class studying the book of 1 Timothy also meets after the devotion as the children move downstairs for a morning snack, study and crafts (sorry adults no craft for you). Please join us as Jesus, the Good Shepherd, leads us through the Church year.
Arcola School Luncheon provides a Christmas Meal for many:
God opened the hearts of many volunteers at Grace Lutheran and New Beginnings Lutheran as cookies and turkeys were baked and sides were prepared to feed hungry children at the annual Arcola School Christmas Luncheon held in Grace's fellowship hall on December 8th. Thirty volunteers from the two congregations served four hundred hungry children along with their accompanying teachers and volunteers.

LC-C Issues statement on Marriage:
Recently, the LC-C issued a statement on marriage firmly stating the differences that exist between the LC-C and the ELCIC. Please continue to pray for our brothers and sisters in the ELCIC that God would lead them in His paths for the sake of His Son-Jesus Christ. For more information on this decision, please contact Pastor Swem or examine the following link: http://www.lutheranchurch.ca/marriage.php?s=elcic

Who is Lutheran Church–Canada?
Lutheran Church–Canada is comprised of congregations, pastors, and deacons committed to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our confessions and practises are based on the foundation of God's Word and the belief that God's gift of salvation is found only through faith in Jesus Christ, God's only Son. In more than 325 congregations, from British Columbia to New Brunswick, this message is proclaimed in word and deed.
History
The Lutheran church is a direct result of the Protestant Reformation begun in 1517 by Martin Luther in Wittenberg, Germany. Lutheran Church–Canada was founded in 1988 when the Canadian congregations of St. Louis-based The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod formed an autonomous Canadian church with three districts. The Alberta-British Columbia District offices are in Edmonton, Alberta, the Central District in Regina, Saskatchewan and the East District in Kitchener, Ontario. The denomination retains close ties with the LCMS and other Lutheran church bodies around the world which follow the Biblically-based Lutheran Confessions.
New Beginnings Lutheran Church, another congregation of the LCC, meets at Grace Lutheran at 11:00 am. See their Web Site for more information.
