This document has been prepared to help answer the most
common questions asked about weddings at our church.
Definition:
Marriage is a lifelong commitment instituted by
GOD between one man and one woman.
Policy:
Grace Lutheran Church wedding service is a worship service.
A policy adopted by its Board of Elders provides a wedding service
to our members only, with exceptions made with Pastor's approval. Also with Pastor's approval another ordained Lutheran Church Canada Pastor may assist in the service.
How to begin:
Please call the church office and speak with the Pastor to book a wedding date. The Pastor will require attendance at four one hour pre-marital classes.
Conduct:
Please keep in mind that your wedding at Grace is an act of worship not merely a "Church Wedding" or a legal endeavor, so all conduct in the church should reflect this. NO rice or confetti are to be used , birdseed or bubbles may be used outside the building.
Music:
The music shall reflect the nature of the ceremony as a worship service and must be approved by the Pastor. A church organist may be available if requested.
Rehearsals:
One rehearsal is pre-scheduled with the Pastor. In some cases the rehearsal may require the organist as well.
Photos & Videos:
It is understand that the couple, family and friends wish to have lasting memories of this service. Therefore flash pictures are allowed as the wedding party enters and leaves the church and also during the siginig of the register. Photo opportunities with the Pastor may be arranged before or after the service. Video camera's should be preferably stationary and unobtrusive, the best placement can be arranged at the rehearsal.
Donations and Honarariums:
Payment to the church office the week prior to the wedding is preferred, but no later than the time of the wedding rehearal.
